I think you can but..... can you keep two perc's or O's in the same 55? Does everybody play nice?

2 of the same species would be fine, when you mix species you are asking for trouble...

A mated pair of clowns will do fine.

Two clowns introduced into the tank at the same time will probably be okay.

If introducing a new clown to a tank containing an established clown, making sure they are of dissimilar size helps decrease the likelihood of battle.

A pairing of dissimilar species will likely result in one pestering the other to starvation or worse.
