I have some coraline that has started to grow on my star polyps. Is this normal or do I have a problem? what should I do, if anything? Just seems wierd to me!

I think it is okay. Coralline growth is normal in healthy tanks. I would be happy to have coralline growth

I think your on your way to having a bigger piece of LR
If the coraline continues to grow over the polyp,it will encrust it and kill it I think...I could be wrong though. ------------------ "It's better to have a hen tomorrow then an egg today." |

It might just be that the colony of star polyps is growing. The little tubes the polyps extend from look very similar to coralline algae..

Agree with that it might actually be the mat of the polyps. But if it is coraline ive never seen it overgrow polyps. I had a similar deal im taking care of right now with a killer sponge overgrowing my wifes star's.
