Post White Hair invasion on polyps

My wifes green star polyps have over the last couple of weeks have been growing a white stringy stuff that seems to be overgrowing the polyps. It started on the mat and has extended upward. Some of the polyps now can not extend due to the stuff overgrowing them. I have been hesitent to do anything about this situation until now due to I thought it might be something I would like to see an outcome of. Anyways thanks

JMM,
really hard to tell without a pic. But I have noticed a white sponge like substance growing on many new corals that I have shipped in, as well as some of my services. I dont know if I would call it stringy per say, but I do know that if left unchecked it has claimed a few corals that I know of. I try to take the coral from the main systen and pick or scrub the stuff off so that it does not encroach, or choke off corals. If at all possible I would suggest the same tactics for you if it seems like the stuff I described. As usual all is IMHO. HTH.

Duncan.

I am of the belief that it is a form of sponge I spotted one that was forming. I just let the coral in the air for about 5 min and hopefully if im right the sponge will die. Will update asap
