turning 18-gallon reef tank into refugium
Hi all,
OK, after two bouts with cyano and killing off my fish with ich, I've decided it's time to move to a larger tank size. I have a 29 gallon FW tank right now that I'll be in the process of disassembling. The tank is an eclipse model. I plan on turning the 18 gallon into a refugium for pods and macroalgae. I will be placing the 18 gallon in the cabinet stand under the 29 gal. I was wondering if anyone here with experience working with refugiums would know how I could transfer water between the tanks without having to drill holes in the glass, as most people seem to do. Also, will my pods be able to travel from the refugium to the main tank? And lastly, how deep should my live sand be and is there a specific type of live sand I should get? Thanks for your help!
