Question testing calcium

i just bought my first cal test kit from red sea. i did my test and it read over 500ppm. is this possible. i only have 120lbs of lr and a xenia and a couple of mushrooms. is this test kit good or not? what do you want your cal to read?

400 to 450 is around normal. it might have come from your salt. then you might have added some calcuim once or twice and since you dont have anything that really eats up calcuim like i do then you might just be over. just let it sit and deplete before adding any calcuim for a while,.

IME, Redsea test kits are pretty bad. I'd say +/- 50ppm. Looks like you're in the ballpark at 500ppm...What's your DKH?

Get rid of the Red Sea test kit its junk. I found out the hard way. Go with Salifert they are much more accurate and pretty easy to use.

I agree with the above. I too, used Red Sea, only to find out the results where not accurate. I got rid of mine.
