I have a copperband butterfly fish in my quarantine tank right now who I thought was somewhat reef compatible. I know he will eat feather dusters and other tubeworms but I never though he would nip at tridacnid clams. Does anyone have tidacnids and copperbands in the same tank? I dont have any clams yet but I hope to soon, the butterfly is still in quarantine so.....
Thanks Andrew |

My old LFS guy (a reputable one) had a Copperband that was hell on
aiptasia and clams. This fish wouldn't just nip at them, it would grab hold of the mantle and rip the poor animal right out of its shell. |

I have a copperband in my 180 ecosystem reef. There are also 2 crocea clams that the fish has never even looked at. I sure wouldn't tell you to not worry, but this is what my copperband has or hasn't done. I have had the fish for over 6 months and the clams have been in there almost as long. No problems....

I feed my Copperband clams and cockles from the grocery store regularly. He rips the mantels right out of their shells and chows down. Good thing he is in a FOWLR tank!!!
