Post What could it be ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok , I have a big problem in my tank and I need some help from you guys.

The 200g reef tank is 3-4 months old.My problem is that 2 weeks ago I had a yellow tailed damsel and had vanished.Yesterday a firefish did the same and now it only remains an Occelaris Clown fish.

The Corals are all healthy, coralline and calerpa are growing like weeds. The parameters are all fine.

I think that in the tank ,is there some kind of creature for sure ,that is killing mine fish 0ne by one...

What or who could he be ??? Maybe a big Crab??? Yes I saw 2 big crabs about 2-3inch.Could it be ???

Please I m going crazy , and really need some advice on what should I do now ???

I've never had one myself, but they say mantis shrimp hitchike in within LR. Search for posts on them. Might give you a glue. They kill fish and feed on them.

My guess is that the crabs, seen or unseen, have snatched the fish out of their slumber. I'd try to get the crabs out ASAP.

fisherman,
There are some traps on the market that might work. Have you tried looking for any hitchhikers after lights are out with a small flashlight. Might give you an idea of what you are dealing with. Just me but I would try to build my own trap before buying one. Maybe using a piece of PVC pipe or a clean plastic bottle add a small trap door and bait with a piece of shrimp. Keep us posted. Bill
