Hey there coralman
How long has your system been set up? Also, Do you have a sandbed? If so, you may want to rule out the Wrasse family due to there destruction of sand infauna A blue tang will be too craped in a 55, even by itself |

I've thoght of that one maybe, but i really do need a herbivore for algal grazing purposes are there any that are of suitable size for a 55 gallon.

In a 55g I would rule out any member of the Zebrasoma/Acanthurus spp. (Tangs/Surgeonfish) simply because of not enough room in your tank.
Even though I have not had any expierences with this fish it would work in your tank and is herbivourous (sp?) it is the P. marmoreus or Lawnmower Blennie, HTH

Hi there. I have a 75 gallon and I'll make a couple recommendations based on some research. I agree that a Lawnmower blennie and a Black Cap basslet are both good choices. May I also say a bicolor blennie would be good. I find both of those blennies to have great personalities, along with the black cap. I agree tangs should not be cooped up in a 55. I don't think I would even keep one in my tank. But then I'm just paranoid.
Also, I think a long nose hawkfish may be okay to add to your system too. I love those fish. I plan on getting on of them. If I think of more, I'll add.HTH ![]() Joanne

I think i have decided on a sixline wrasse, a bicolor blennie(herbivore right?) and a small group of bagaii cardinals. Is this alright, and how many bangaiis should i put in ?

Yes, the blennies I mentioned are reef safe and generally will not destroy the sandbed critter population. I do believe that six line wrasses will eat pods from the sandbed though.
