I am going to add some macro algaes to my tank to deter the nuisance green algae that is growing. I have a few questions. When adding the macro algae, how should I anchor it? Should I add it to the tank directly, or add on a refugium? What are some good sorts of macro algae to use? I have a dwarf angel, a clown and a gobie in my tank right now.

I have added my razor caulerpa in main tank for decor and for nutrient export in my refugium. Worked well for me. I did not anchor it down, I just dropped it in the area I wanted it to grow and it anchored itseld. However, if you have a high flowrate in your tank I would bury part of it in the substrate to keep it down or weigh it down with a lr or something.
Take note however, that there have been complaints that some caulerpa can overtake your tank. I have no problems with razors so far and I have kept them for over 4 months ![]() |
