I have a 180gal RR tank that has been set up and running for about six months w/DSB. 150-200lbs LR has been in thi tank for 1-2 month but came from two other tanks that had been up and running two plus years! I have some hair mushrooms, torch, green brain and a, elagent coral! My questions are: when is the best time to feed these guys? I have been feeding 1/4 ts of 200-300 size of golden pearls every morning! Should I be feeding more or less? Or giving them more than just golden pearls? Is there a better time to feed?
Thanks, VTEC SI |

"Is there a better time to feed?" Great question and I look forward to answers. I believe it was the instructions that came with "Liquid Life" phyto plankton that suggested feeding close to "lights out". I have a non photo "chili pepper" soft coral that is only open late night and early morning so I often feed at 5am as well. For what it's worth I have used Kent Marine Phytoplex (least expensive), DT's phytoplankton (mid range) and Liquid Life phyto (costly) and I can't honestly say that I've been able to see any difference. Opinions?

Yes I know what you mean! I have been feeding my corals when the attinic light comes on about 6:30am. I have nottice that my corals have all their tenticals streched out when the lights are off and still when the blue light are on! But once the rest of the light com on those little arms are gone, but the corals come to life and look great!
So if anyone else can give their input and opinions that would be great! Thanks again, VTEC si |
