At the next SEABay club meeting in the Bay Area in Palo Alto this Saturday September 15 Mary Middlebrook will be our guest speaker. SEABay meetings are free and open to the public.

Mary will be give a talk on the "Chain of Custody" as well as the topic of the recent flurry of legistlation impacting our hobby.

Mary is the owner and operator of Marine Specialties International and Channel Islands Coral Reef Ornamentals propagation. Mary is also very active with various organizations pertaining to the hobby and industry.

The "Chain of Custody" speaks on what conditions fishes and corals go through to get to the wholesalers/jobbers and finally to our reefs. This is an important topic to hear and understand the process that our little friends go through, which at times is rough and stressful. Hopefully we'll all get a better understanding of why the cost of quality may seem high and why cheaper prices in most cases will not give you healthy specimens. Best practices are currently being formed by industry organizations for capturing, caring, and holding fishes and corals. For this we must support proper humane treatment and care for healthy specimens at a reasonable cost.

Come by and hear her talk and also meet other hobbyists of all levels in the Bay Area. Again the club meetings are always open to everyone so come by and enjoy.
