Just looks closed to me, my toadstool does that every so often. It is common with all leathers some more than others, I would worry if it starts to disintragrate, other than that give it some time it should be fine!

Ooops let me be a bit more specific. If you look at the stalk there appears to be, what looks like, white flaky pieces on it. Or they just may be white spots. Is that some sort of coral disease.
I am familiar with the coral closing up, but it has bee more than a week of it being retracted. -CaptK |

Ah yes now I see it, have you tried blowing it off with a turkey baster? I am not sure what it is but it looks like more of an irritant than anything else. Is it possible that it may be some sand that got caught up in the coral shedding? I would blow it off and give it a few days to see how it reacts, if it doesen't look any better then I would try a Lougol's dip.

I had the same problem with my golden crown leather.. it looked exactly the way yours does: closed with white patches. When I had this problem I asked my LFS and they told me to point a powerhead right at the coral and "blast it". After I positioned a powerhead right at the coral in strong current, I havn't even seen the leather close up for a single day!! leathers love current and I guess when they don't get it, they tend to close up and start looking weird. My leather is still in direct current from the powerhead and like I said, it stays open all the time! even at night sometimes! Definitely try putting your leather in a nice strong current and keep up with your iodine.
