    Toadstool Leather (Sarcophyton)

I know there have been many postings from anxious new owners of Toadstool leathers, but please indulge me. I added one last Saturday, which was yellow at the time. Since then it turned brownish black and drooped. I've seen the postings about leathers getting a wax coating while they acclimate, but this looks like its dying. I blew off the slough with a turkey baster, and there is some white tissue left, but it hardly resembles its original shape. Can somebody describe the difference between the waxing due to acclimation and dying?

i never seen one dying, but when i got mine i sure thought the same as you. It looked brown, and limp. It didn't open for a week. So just give it some time and don't move or disturb it.
    great post!

    Hey Burt :)

Any chance for a pic of that little jewel?

You know the saying "a pic is worth a 1000 words"

Sorry, no chance for a picture, its dead. I came home yesterday to find some lumps of brown tissue laying on the sand bed. Unfortunately, I got this from a supplier that doesn't guarantee toadstool leathers. Do I dare try again from a different supplier?

Burt Reynolds...Do you have anything to trade, I'm gonna be fragging my leathers in a couple of days. IME, captive raised corals are easier to care for. Shoot me an email if interested...

BTW, I forgot to mention, it will take a couple of weeks for the frags to attach...let me know...
