On the top of my tank there is starting to be a water film developing......not so much a film but the top is visibly getting a little dirty....is this normal? none of the coral/dusters seem to notice it but i was just wondering if i should worry. i tried putting on my skimmer but its not working like it used to i dont know what the problem is.....and i had to turn off one of the ph's because the xenia didnt like it any longer so its down to just the 1 ph.....what say you folks

Do you have an overflow of any kind or is the tank drilled? If not you are developing a protein slick, accumulated proteins that are normally skimmed out via the overflow device.

try to aim one ph so it is sort of shooting water out of the tank... thats how i solved that problem... try cleaning out the phs in there, one could be clogged and not working up to potential...

Agree with the above posts. Just aim a powerhead at the surface and the problem will dissappear.
An overflow or a preskimmer box like you can get for a bakpak will solve the problem as well. Good Luck. ------------------ http://www.ssaland.com/reefpages/reefhome.htm |
