Maroon Clown for 7g Nano Reef?

Have a 7g nano - currently have some shrooms, candy cane, hammer and some grape caulerpa.

Purple Firefish and cleaner shrimp.

Looking at adding a very small (1") yellow stripe maroon clown.

Questions:

- Think he'll beat up the firefish or should I go with an oscellaris?

- Will he 'accept' the hammer as his home?

- If not, can move the hammer to my 75 - which anemone will the maroon pair with?

I can also move the firefish to the 75 - my goal is to have a clown/anemone as the showcase of the little tank.

Thanks

A 7-gal tank is much too small for a Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus).

Since you already have a Purple Firefish (Nemateleotris decora), I guess you could consider a second fish if it is very small, like maybe a Neon Goby (Gobiosoma oceanops).

Tank is too small and would probably kill the firefish. Go with an ocelleris or a bangaii cardinal perhaps.

Smile hi idrum

I have a maroon gold clown in my 90g tank and he is an easy 3.5" I really think you need to reconsider this fish for your nano....as far as what corals he will accept as your host....WHO KNOWS... Actually i highly recommend "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson it explains alot on which clown is most common with which anenemone etc etc.

Pass on the Maroon...

both you and the clown will be glad that you did. These fish are awesome, but they are the largest of the clowns and would definetely not be fit for a 'nano' tank.

OK - so no maroon - looks like I'll go with an oscellaris or a true perc and hope he hangs in the hammer.

Thanks!
