Question Is 1.030 too high??

I have 20 pounds of live rock on the way from Premium Aquatics for my ten gallon. I had let the tank "go" due to lack of money so I thought I would check the salinity before I got the rock. I figured it would be low... It is 1.030!!. I have calurpa and even some worms living and growing in the tank and sump. I thought that salinity this high would mean an almost certain death for most marine organisms.

I guess I need to bring it down...

It will be a few days before I get the rock. I basically gave up on the tank for a while and just let it sit un attended. I have only started fixing it in the past few days.

Still, it was a surprise to see it so high.

yeah i did the same with my 10 gallon breeder, but of course you know the salinity wont drop, instead it would rise if no evaporated water is replenished...hth

Right. However I added more than five gallons of freshwater to get 1.030.
