I purchase a Ritteri Anemone(Heteractis magnifica) from my lfs last week and it seems very happy. My 2 perculas have taken to it very nicely. When I got home last night I noticed it is making a donut out of itself. Where the mouth was has now become a large hole where I can see the live rock its sitting on. Whats going on???? HELP!

Is he turning inside out, because if so, That's bad. If not, then he may be getting ready to split, I've never observed the process from start to finish, but as long as he's not flaccid and inside out, I think he may be splitting... Just a thought.

Sounds like he is dead or is going to be dead soon..IMO
If you have a Q-tank I would tank him out and see if he gets better..If he does die, he could effect other things in your tank.. |

They do split.
I've observed one after it split (a ritteri) hecteractis magnifica. (one day there was one, the next day there were two.) It was in our 225 display tank at the store, I sold one of the progeny to a client. I still don't know if this is what your's is doing though, but they do split. |
