Has anyone purchased one of these for Algae control? What type of personality did it have? What about mixing with a Purple or Brown (Scopas)Tang in a 105g?

They are pretty good algae munchers (not as good as like yellows, but good). They are also one of the more timid tangs. THe purple would probably chase him a little, maybe a scopas(not as much as the purple) They have wonderful little personalities, I'd probably introduce him with lights off and rearrange the rock as best I could to confuse the other tangs. HTH, GOod luck.

Nah, my Kole only eats detritus. It won't touch any algae, even prefers brine to Nori.
My Kole is useless as any sort of algae control. But it is very passive, and I would think a Purple would likely harass it into hiding. ------------------ Mark Play Well |

Interesting, I had one once that ate everything, he even left little "kissy" marks on the glass from where he scraped off the algae. But on second thought, I agree that the purple tang would probably be too aggressive and chase him into the rocks. HTH

My Kole eats everything except hair alge. He does his best to keep the glass clean also. The yellow chases him on occasion but never really harasses him.
