Ever seen a yellow long tentacle plate coral?

Has anyone ever seen a plate coral like this before? I've always liked the ones with the pink tips, but when I saw this I had to get it. I have to admit I am a tad bit suspicious because it is so awesome in color, but I have never seen one. Anyone know for sure if these appear naturally, ever seen one before, etc?

Thanks.

$39.99. It's good size, too. About 4 1/2 " across.

Thanks Mark. I got it at Aquatic Outlet near LAX. They had 4 of them.

organicreefer - It's worth mentioning that the place I went to is a warehouse near LAX. The guy has the cheapest prices I have seen on corals, you just have to get lucky and find healthy specimens there. Some LFS come here to buy their fish. Secondly, why do you think it will die? I thought the color would fade out of it was dyed, but it looks pretty healthy to me. Ah well . . .I guess time will tell. If Eric B. on reefcentral confirms that it is dyed, then I might bring it back. We'll see.

Mark, didn't you used to have the pink tipped one? What happened to that?

Sure.

Aquatic Outlet/Depot (I can't figure it out. They seem to have 2 names)
427 South Hindry Ave, Inglewood, Ca 90301

From the 405 exit Manchester and go West. Turn left on Hindry (About 2 blocks west of the 405) and the place is on the right side. Park in the back.

They have tons of corals and stuff, but don't expect a lot of service there. You have to know what to look for. Great prices though, especially on livestock/corals.

Good luck.

Naw, but it got a little food when I feed the tank. Maybe that was the problem.

I heard the should be fed maybe once or twice a month or so. Who knows. I'll let you know how this guy does.

Here's the phone number for aquatic outlet . . although it is just a recording.

310-641-6070

Almost forgot. You have to be a member to get really good prices. It costs $30 I think for a 1-year membership. Otherwise you pay 20% more than the marked price.

True, organic . . .but I have also got some of my other coral there that were not dyed, still have them (over 1 year). Like an awesome green open brain for $25 which based on size etc would have been at least $40 at the LFS around here. That's why I said it's a decent place if you know what you are looking for. Obviously in this case I didn't!

dj,yeah there is a similar place near me ,and i still go there sometimes too.im sure you can find some good stuff there, just be educated about what youre buying when you go into these places.i understand why you bought the plate it looks cool, but im positive(hope im right )its dyed.who knows ,keep it well fed and it may survive long enough to change back to normal, but plates are notoriously dificult to begin with,so it is one strike against you .good luck.
