Post mixing my own food

I have several corals that are supposed to be fed. I usually use coral heaven from IPSF. I also have been adding golden pearls once a week. I spot fed some of the corals. I have read that plate corals, frogspawns, maze corals and sun corals all like meaty foods occasionally. I have all of these corals and I am trying to make a good food for them and for the fish. So far I have angel formula, silversides and plancton. I was going to do like some of you do and blend all of this together and refrease. Do you have any other recommendations of other foods to add? And what kind of water do you use to help blend it? Do you use the tank water so it has the salt mix or do you use fresh ro water?

I make my own food by blending silversides, krill, mussels, shrimp, and nori. I add a small amount of water and add selcon. Once its a nice slurry. I use a small amount of agar boil water, add the agar to the water and then add the agar solution to the blended slur. I make enough for about two weeks and pour it into an old flat of formula one cubes. And keep it in the frig. The constant freezing and unfreezing of food denatures proteins and reduces the nutritional gain for the critters.

Cool

I have made a similar food for my corals recently made of some brine shrimp, prime reef, and zoe. Seems to be very popular with the critters.

Rhonda,
There is a really good recipe in the new Borneman book. I have been using it for just a couple of days but everything seems to be happy. HTH.

I don't have that book. Where can I get it and about how much does it cost? What else does the book cover?
