The CoolPix 950 and the newer 990 are great cameras, probably the best digital cameras for the money. The macro feature is terrific, much better than other similarly priced cameras.

I have done a lot of research on these cameras and all of the reviews that I have read have been great. I am going to be using my graduation money to purchase a new Nikon 995.
The main concern that I have heard with the 950 and 990 is that they have a red eye problem. The 995 has come a long way towards fixing the problem by moving the flash farther away from the lens. If you only plan on using the camera for tank pics, or any picture without people in it, then you won't go wrong with either of the cameras. I plan on using mine for all types of shots so I am going to buy the newer model with the added improvements.
