New macro!
Well I have this new macroalgae popping up and it's pretty cool. A month or more ago a friend gave me some halimeda, the basic stuff. I lost some right away but a portion of it took and has been doing well in two different tanks, one with high end reef lighting and another with only 55w pc "smartlight", so light doesn't seem to be a big factor. Anyway, now there is this new halimeda comming up in both tanks in random locations not associated with the other stuff. It has much broader and thicker "leaves" and is very dark green in color. It also has little "flowers" on upper edges, it looks exactly like a cactus! Somehow this must be related to the addition of the other halimeda and in fact it could be the exact same species, just comming up in new form due to a change in environment (the move from friends tank to mine). I have C. racemosa in four tanks, all from the same original cutting. It grows totally different in each tank. Any thoughts?
