Unhappy Bubble Algae

Fellow reefers,
I seem to have developed a case of bubble algae in my tank. Is it true that a Sailfin tang will cure the problem? Any ideas would be appreciated as some of the bubbles are out of reach for me to get with pliers and quite large.

An emerald crab may or may not eat it. I had the same problem and the crab ate almost every bubble.

I have bubble algea and my sailfin won't touch it. I did have an emerald crab that did a very good job of it, but he got very distructive so he had to go. Good Luck!

i have been fighting bubble algae too and the best way to get rid of it is to pick out by hand but don't pop the bubbles. i do have 2 emerald and they do pick on my sps.

I agree with clown-t, the best way is to remove the bubbles by hand, without popping them in the tank.

When I battled it in the past I would remove the whole rock that the bubble problem was on, remove all the bubbles, rinsed the rock off with clean salt water a couple of times/directions, then replace the rock back into the tank.

You will also need to lower the nutrient level in the tank... something is causing the growth in the first place.

YOu need a RED SEA sailfin to eat bubble algae, the sailfins from elsewhere don't care for it. But, in the alternative, pick them out by hand, don't pop the bubbles. (Just like what everybody else said)
