sounds like you've got some good advise already.

1.Put the coral in some higher current

2.Start growing several species of macro algea to harvest and in return remove toxic buildup

3. remove the dinos by blowing the coral off everytime you see it build up--it worked for that one member at rc it could very well work for you.

what have you done thus far?

tell us of your filtration methods (ie.. LR, DSB/LSB.....)

Reefhead

As far as filteration I have a 18gal refuguim with 3 different kinds of macro's an 18gal sump,140pounds of live rock and a 4" SB in my main tank and a 6" SB in the refuguim. I am currently running 3-MJ 1200 PH on a wave stripe and 1-rio 2100 ph with a Aqua clear 802 for my refuguim return. I am very low for current is what I was told so I am adding 2 more cap 1200's today and I also blew off some dino's off the corals and today I will prune my refuguim and change my carbon in my sump. Any other suggestions????????

In the link/pic your coral seems to be in the sand, if thats the case try to move it closer to the lighting to see what reaction you get.

What chems do you dose?

what size is your tank?

I have never had this problem before but, I will help as much as I can.

cheers,
Joe

The sps was at one time directly under my 250watt MH when this started since then I moved it on my sand bed for a few dats them moved it back up closer to current. im not sure if it's totally dead. I have also added another powerhead for more circulation. I will also be doing a 20% water change this weekend. Any suggestions would help

reefhead I know to be patient but this is the 3rd piece I have lost and im a bit edgy right now I really like this piece and dont want to loose this one nor anymore. I am using a cacuim reactor and dont dose anything. I was adding DT & reef Solutions every other day. but dropped back to only 2 times per weeks.

Reef Solution is made by ecosystemaquarium and is a product that replaces all additives other than calcium and buffer. I have used it for almost 3 years and it is excellent for sps tanks. My 120 is an example, I had tried it and within 48 hours I saw an incredible difference. Amazing polyp extension, better overall health of the corals too. I was using it til we switched my 120 over to an ecosystem this past Monday. Reef Solution is a good product but it isn't to be confused with a food type substance, it is an additive.

reef120, I'm sure sorry I don't know what to tell you to help with the problems going on with this particular coral. I totally agree with giving it better current first and fore most. Better lighting than on the sand bed should help too. Before you panick{although I would have by now} I have seen these amazing corals come back from the brink of death. All it needs is a single polyp to regenerate. My fingers are crossed for ya. HTH..
