setting up a tank?
If run a tank that has been up for a year in line with a new tank will it still have the normal spikes of A/N/N or will it not go through a cycle?I will be putting liverock from the old tank in the new tank?

I just posted about this, and am in the process of doing it. You won't have a cycle as long as you don't add things quickly to the new tank that would throw off the balance. If you are just moving your existing setup over, you can do it easily but you will still want to wait a few weeks for the add-on tank to mature. If your make-up water of the new tank is exactly like your existing tank, your animals shouldn't even notice a thing.
If you setup the new tank and start adding more bioload into it you will get minor ammonia spikes. So just do it slowly. |
