I beleive this is another Marc weiss product though not completely for sure. Anyway I read the other day that people that used it were having luck in keeping some of the harder to keep corals like flowerpots. I have my doubts about this product being any better than say DT plancton or golden pearls. But because I am always trying to research ways to make my corals and clams happier I thought I would ask you all what you think. I can almost guess already as most of you seem to really dislike Marc Weiss products but I want to get your opinion anyway. has anyone tried this before?

Rhonda,
There is nothing I hate more than people who just jump on the bandwagon and bash products which they have never used; espicially concerning the Marc Weiss products. I have used black powder and I will give you my opinion. Its garbage! Actually, I bought some when it was on sale at petwarehouse. I believe it has ALOT of marketing HYPE behind it. Example; some people experience a spark or shock when opening black powder because it is so charged with life. Another example; keep it in the freezer (c'mon!!!) I used this product over the corse of about 2 months. The directions say to dose everyday but when I did this, after about 4 or 5 days, I started experiencing an algae bloom. So, I d/c'd it and dosed it just like 2-3 times weekly. I NOTICED ABSOLUTLY NO IMPROVEMENT IN MY TANK! If anything, it breeds algae. Now I know that corals are made of algae and that what's good for algae is good for corals but I noticed nothing special in my corals. I didnt notice any "new" "cryptic" life. One thing I would also like to point out is that my little, weak, amiricle skimmer, pulled this stuff out. Marc Weiss says that this product is used so quickly and so efficently that your skimmer will not have time to catch any of it. HOGWASH! HTH Dennis |

I won't jump on the bandwagon here, but I have done a lot of research on these threads and I have yet to find anyone who has really seen a noticable difference since using black powder. I'm not saying it isn't any good, but it certainly seems funny thet of the people who have tried it noone seems to notice any difference except algae and maybe a little lighter wallet.
