    Exclamation Clowns driving me CRAZY!!!

Can someone please tell me why it is that my false perculas are out to drive me mad? I've had them a year now. They've been fine. Eat like pigs. But they have strange things happen to them. The latest is tiny black spots, only a couple on each fish. This has happened before and they've disappeared. They aren't scratching or acting strangely. They've also had white spots, not ick, before that would disappear and then reappear in a different area of the fish. The black spots are only on the orange of the fish. I really don't believe that it is a disease, but I thought I'd post to find out what could cause this. I added a sixline wrasse two weeks ago, but the spots were there before the addition. The sixline and my existing bicolor blennie are normal. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Thanks Rocky. But I'm concerned, what if it isn't black spot? How do I know for sure? And I've heard of freshwater dips killing the fish? I wouldn't want to do this unnecessarily.

ime "blackspot" isnt really a cause for concern, more an "indicator" that something is amiss, either youve let the water parameters slip a little,or diet isnt up to par,or something.fish can easily beat it on their own,as you have experienced in the past.

Water parameters are excellent and all fish eat better than most people. Vitamins, variety, etc. So it's not that. I'm not really concerned at this point as they show no signs at all of black spot other than these wierd couple of spots. They don't scratch or anything. Thanks for the help guys. They just drive me nuts! No wonder they call them clowns.

this is one of those situations when keeping a log book would be invaluable, you might be able to correlate a certain set of circumstances with the occurance of the spots, just a thought

Ahhh. But I do keep a log book! Nothing stands out. And to tell you the truth, the spots haven't ever been around long enough to make any sense of them. I think this is just another one of those things. The only time I ever noticed anything affect the clowns directly was when I used Zoecon vitamins in their food once. Their white stripes noticably faded. It was the wierdest thing. The next morning, they were fine. Go figure. I never used that again though.
