attaching corals to rocks

I'm having some trouble attaching my corals to the rocks. I've tried the putty and the expoxy. I think I may not be doing it right. Can you guys help me out with the right steps with both of these methods? Thanks.

the trick is finding a little hole, put some epoxy into it. right when you put the coral into the epoxy, dont touch it. the more you touch it the looser it becomes. just put it in the epoxy and leave it. the epoxy will harden so it wont tip over. then the coral will grow over the epoxy.

What kind of epoxy is appropriate? I have a 6-poylp button that won't attach to anything and keeps getting knocked out of the niche I made for it.

Also, my yellow tang picked at my largest feather duster so much that there is now a hole in the tube near the attached end and the "duster" won't come out any more. Will this recover, or has it become a decoration? The crown came off of a smaller feather duster a few weeks ago and I have not seen any movement since. I have to keep pulling this one out of the substrate. I just got a yellow-headed goby that seems intent on covering everything in the tank with sand.

Thanks. Gabriel.

What types are you trying to attach? Epoxy works very well for SPS and LPS (for the most part), but isn't as suited for softies or polyps.

I superglue polyps. It works well, you just can't do it while wet. Just towel off the rock and polyp, dab o glue, hold for a few seconds, and put back in tank. The polyps will be fine being out of water for while. For softies like leathers, I use a combo of superglue, toothpicks, and/or needle and thread. HTH
