Talking Aiptasia for sale at LFS

Well my local LFS has nice large specimans of aiptasia for sale under the name curly-q anemone,

I told the wife of the owner in a polite way that it was aiptasia and she need to kill it before it spread throughout their system. She acted surpirsed.

They even had a listing for a combo rock with finger leather and curly-q.

If you could see their reef tank you would understand

The owners wife, who usually helps me, has told me on more than one occasion that if I dont get stuff as soon as it comes in it will be dead in a week or so. No halides, and just recently added (2) 96w pc's over 1 tank, other than that its open tanks with the facility lighting as the only source.

I was eating dinner at a place called "Captain Dave's" in Destin FL this week. Its a great restaurant and has several old style marine tanks. I mean that they have fish and bleached coral in them. The tanks are maintained by a local aquarium business for the restaurant. Since I had last been there, they had changed one of the tanks to the new "REEF" style. It had 1/2" of crushed coral and a lot of nice live rock covered with coralline algae. Several wrasses and one tang. I commented on the tank and the waiter told me it was their anemone tank. I went over for a closer look and it was covered in brown Aiptasia. There must have been a hundred of different sizes. It was so thick it looked like soft coral in spots.

OH OH! I think I am having a heart attack! Its either THAT, or the dinner i had last night did not agree with my system, or it may be the fact that those suckers look TOO much like something I have been looking at all excited growing in my prime specimen of live rock!

I fixed the problem very quickly... the buggers seemed to be localized to only one rock...so I took it out! Took it to the LFS I just discoverd here in Winter Haven, and gave it to him after he agreed that it was aiptasia... got me two brand new pieces...problem solved.
