Hi 7thheaven, I have an Aldabra Dottyback which i purchased as a baby (about 1") he was great in the begginning but now i see that he is VERY aggressive towards ANY new fish. and i beleive the dottyback is part of the grouper family, and i've seen mine open his mouth pretty wide but has not messed with any of my cleaner shrimps unlike my female Hifin cardinal who ate one of my cleaners....
also he will hide alot and you wont see him much...hth |

One of my dottybacks (either the Splendid or the Arabian) killed my cleaner shrimp. The cleaner had been in my tank for two years and had survived all the cycles & spikes. At first when I noticed he was missing, I assumed he was molting, however, he never appeared again after I added the dottybacks.
My neighbor also purchased a Splendid Dottyback the same day that I did and her cleaner shrimp also disappeared. Joyce |
