Which blue lobster? The LFS around here commonly sell shrimp as blue lobsters, if it is just a shrimp, or really a true variety of lobster that stays small than it should be fine.

If it is a 2" lobster that already has 6" antlers, avoid it. They get about 6-10"; or an etible size. I was given one as a "gift" and within a month it's antler/antenna were too long to allow it to turn around in the tank.

Just find out what it is for sure before buying it.

Id say dont get a lobster. there nothing but hassle. I had an indo pacific one when I was a newbie that some LFS jerk sold to me saying perfectly reef safe and docile. Being a newbie, I agreed cause it was nice looking(most of us have been there eh? )

Put him in my tank...and VIOLA. no more shrimps, a pile of snail shells in the lobsters corner which incidentally No other inhabitant of my tank was allowed near... and the lobster would constantly attack fish, sometimes ripping fins and such. When it came time to take him back to the store, The pest Latched on to me and drew blood and were talking about a 3" lobster. 3"!!!!!!!!!!.

Get some nice crabs.

As far as DSB are concerned. Lobsters arent sand sifters. They wont ruin your DSB populations. Theres a thread on aqualink right now in the skimmerless section about sand sifters and DSB's if you are interested. With a thriving population in a decent sized tank, one star, sifter etc, shouldnt decimate a whole mature DSB. The debate is still out but a lobster wont do anything to harm it....besides harm you . lol

If you have a trigger, or puffer, or wrasse, in that FOWLR, the lobster will be trigger, puffer, wrasse food.
