Post Kalk is there a good brand?

Is there a brand of Kalk that is better than the others or are the pretty much all the same?
I have decided to start dosing since my calcium is starting to drop along with my alkalinity.
Iam suppose to get my calcium and alk where I want it then start doseing. Is this correct?

    Golfish,
What affect does that have on other levels? Can it impact PH?
I haven't picked up a buffer yet so I am not dosing. I'm not really sure how the whole thing works, You dose with kalk and CA goes up and ALK goes down?....PH?
    I'd appreciate any clarification here.

You cna buy pickling lime in the grocery store its the same stuff as LFS or MO kalk. Mrs Wage or Balls are the typical brands sold in most grocery stores.

    Cinco,
When you said "What affect does that have on other levels?" I'm guessing your talking about Kalk..... Kalkwasser, IMO has to be one of the best additives for a reef tank WHEN ITS DONE RIGHT. When I started my 55 gal (first reef) I started dripping kalk about 4 weeks after I added the LR. You should really use a ph monitor when dripping kalk. I never had a problem with high ph when dripping kalk but I think its best to be safe.

BTW, I have about 10-20 new I.V. drippers if anybody needs one...

yep, Kalk benefits both calcium an ph levels. I'm doing a little research about this right now - but it works well. It's probably the ONLY additive you need to add to a tank.

I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything.
