my 60gallon setup!
just wanted to get your guys' opinion on my setup. it's mainly fish but with some few selected corals. not a full-blown reeftank.
60gallon acrylic tank - substrate: about two inches of argonite sand and live rocks lighting: 2x96watt lighting from ahsupply.com filtration: wet/dry filter for up to 125gallons w/o the bioballs - aquaC urchin pro skimmer how does that sound? any recommendations? or anything? thanks!

i have zero fish. and zero corals in the 60gallon. i just picked up the tank used. so i'm in process of building it.
currently i have a 29gallonfreshwater, 6gallon freshwater and a 10gallon SW. thought that would be enough but i caught the SW bug and here i am with a bigger tank. haha.

hello!
i wanted to keep some community fish (clowns, tangs and gobies)..nothing too fancy. also the same with corals..mushrooms, polyps etc. once again..nothing too fancy. just something simple. and i think i will increase the sandbed to 4inches. thanks. so if i increase the sandbed...do i still need a wet/dry?

If you go with a 4" LS bed and around 60-90 LBS of LR all you would really need is a skimmer. That is what I do for my 72. IT has been set up for about a year and a half now. Really it is your pick I figure you can spend the same money on a wet-dry and a little LR or alot of LR and a skimmer. Is your tank already drilled for a sump/wet-dry? If not I would consider alot of LR and a HOT skimmer.

If you have lots of live rock (60+ pounds) and a good "live" deep sand bed then you shouldn't need the wet\dry. I would still setup a sump tho.
BTW, IMO you should hold off on the tangs. Your tank is really not big enough for them. Mark |

Yeah, I'd scrap the W/D and go w/ a sump and skimmer like Golfish said. You're lighting seems fine considering the corals you had mentioned.
