I posted my concern on my conches when I first got them. It took about three days for me to notice that they were alive. Went on vacation and got back- now they are all over. Just wondering- how do you know if they are getting enough to eat. My tank is around 5 weeks old with a 4" to 5" sand bed. As of now two of them look really good and one seems to still be a little slow.

I remember reading a response from Dr. Ron in his forum on RC wherein he recommended 2 square feet of open sand bed area for each conch. I assume that yours are fairly small at the present time, so your 180-gal tank is probably more than adequate at this time. You may need to give one away as they get larger. I am assuming that your 220-lbs of live rock takes up at least 2/3 of your available sand bed area.

The way I set up my liverock was I put 4" drill pvc pipe in the sand then I put a rock on each pipe. Then set larger rocks on those rocks for my main foundation so I have alot of space under my rock pile. I was a little concerned about my sand bed being not mature enough to support what is needed to keep them going. Oh yeah, as of now they are about an inch long.

depending on what kind@ queen can get 10" in 1 yr i'm told. Mine has doubled in @1-2mo. i hear they make good chowder thats why they were fished out
