foxface

does anyone have any experiences w/ this fish? I just purchased one, I did do research on them by books. I want to know more about their behaviors, problems etc.

Any responses would be great.

Mine was somewhat shy at first. A grazer that likes algae macro and micro. Generally peaceful and very hardy. Spines are venomous so handle with care. If it is the Onespot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus) it is one of the smallest of the genus (8"). Can become quite tame 4-5 months. Cool looking fish, reef safe IME.

Regards,
Kevin

I've had one in my tank for about 6 months. Has grown from 5 inches to 7 inches. Very easy fish to keep. Eats everything. Likes greens - nori, spinach leaves, lettuce etc. Does not bother any of the other fish however big/small.

If I put on the light suddenly at night he gets completely freaked out, turns grey/ black starts shivering and swimming about violently. He even bangs into the glass.

Overall a great fish and easy to keep.

My one-spot, Roger Rabbit, is one of my favorite fish. I've had him a little over a year and he's grown from 2 1/2 in. to 6 in. He's a gentle fellow, somewhat shy, but full of personality. I can hand feed him and he rubs and nudges my hand when I put it in the tank-- if I have food. He used to flare at his own reflection sometimes in the evening, but if another fish swam by, he'd immediately put down his spikes, as if to say," My beef's not with you, it's with that other foxface".

He does tend to hide and put on his nasty looking camoflauge when strangers come to look at the tank. That's disappointing, as he's such a cool looking guy I want to show him off. But altogether, he's one neat fishie.
