my 180 was 800.00
the 65 was free
the 54 bowfront was 250.00 without top

so far the 54 has absolutely crushed the amount of money I had in the 180...go figure.

The rock and livestock for all tanks has to be another grand...and there is NO END IN SIGHT.

Well I did it the hard way. I started with a 50 gal, then moved into a 90 gal then moved into a 180. Should have gotten the 180 first, would have saved thousands. REALLY..

I save all receipts and the last I looked, I was at over 10,200.00 and that was months ago. I scared to add them up now. Now if we sell our townhouse and move into a larger home, thinking of a 300 gal. but nothing bigger in the future, as I can always go over to one of our memebers and look at his 1200gal tank.

2200 for the 65 gallon. The 120 is hovering around there too. I figure it will cost total 3500 to set up. We will see next month when it is up.

Well, let see. I have two tanks a 110 and 75g ,so I figure about 12k for 110 and about 5k for 75g including livestock ofcource .it's only money and if you figure all the live stock that did not make it,well,we should pay more for arrogance.

Wow , since my last reply here I added another at least 1500 smack a roos to the system and thats only the new tank , lights , and a few other goodies. I must be over the 10 to 12 g figure for sure since I started.

My 120 so far is at 2600.00 for all the equipment. The live rock was 200.00 for 100 pounds of Ava and fiji rock. But I guess if I continue on I will end up around 4000.00.

We are all forgetting though, What does it cost a month to play in out tanks? Just incidentals and electricity not livestock.

Electricity for my tank is the better part of 60.00 ( I run 4 mh though)
CO2 -10.00 every two months.
Misc. Items 25.00

It is like 1200 a year!!!! Like auto insurance if you will paid on a monthly basis.

What really hurts is when I look at my answer to this question months ago, and then look at the piano where my reef tank used to be before I dismantled it because of hair algae!

Does anyone else have a piano in the house and no one who knows how to play it?

It's like buying a Corvette and not knowing (nor ever having the intention to learn) how to drive.

HAHA!!! That 's funny, since my first reply to this thread I sit in the living room and look at the empty space where my 90 fowlr and 29 sps tank used to be, I relocated the 90 into my bedroom adjacent to the closet where I built my in the wall 120 AGA SPS tank. All the equiptment that was spread all around the condo is now confined to the closet .

Everything except livestock starting with the 29g planted FW $800, the 90g planted FW $1,200, the 72g reef $1,800, and the 125g reef got me for around $3,000. And I'm not finished yet.

Well since my last reply I've dropped another $2,000 into the tank for a total of $17,000 and I still have one or two small upgrades I would like to do. But I'm pretty much done with livestock as the tank is full

Regards,
Kevin
