skimmers? why

Really serious question. I don't have one but would like to know from the people who do what is the benifit? My tank is up almost 2 1/2 years no sump or skimmer just a dsb and power heads. The only reason it's this way is because when I started this is what the LFS told me to do. If I can better my system with a skimmer please tell me? will the corals like it more?

Wink

Do you like the way your tank looks and are the inhabitants healthy?
Why change something that isn't in need of fixing?

Many people are going skimmerless. There are many benifits. Check out Aqualink's Skimmerless forum.

Two is only loosely associated with two by a plus sign and therefore doesn't enter the equation at all since it is only there by mere complicity. We shouldn't count it and leave well enough alone.

i believe the skimmer bennifits more of the photosinthetic coral. keeps the water free from polutants. however if your going to have leathers and corals that feed than i can see were a skimmer wouldnt be to nice. i however have a skimmer because i like fish in with my acropora's. hence my stripping the water from waste. and food.
