Ro unit fittings

Ro unit fittings
Ok I have a 4 stage Ro unit. I was changing out the cartridges yesterday and the vinyl nipple that connects the chambers broke. I can't find any vinyl fittings around here and was told they don't sell what I need in this area. I was told by a plumber that I could use brass. He said brass won't corrode or leach into the water. So is he right? I have looked online at some of the places I order dry goods from and they don't sell the type of fitting I need either. I did look at some of the newer RO units and it looks like they are connected using brass fittings also. So what do you think?
