The best place to order livestock is locally, when possible... avoids shipping expense.

Do these guys carry them? http://www.themarinecenter.com/

    Good luck,

Thanks, I checked with them and they do have them. They were also recomending a pink&black cuke? I have more rock work than open sand area, so I think the tiger tail's probably better.

    thanks again Ninong!

I've been thinking of one too. How safe are they to the reef bed?

Dr. Shimek highly recommends them. I believe they eat detrius only and the benificial sand bed fauna passes right through. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong there.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

Just a followup question to the above. If these guys should happen to die, will they take the rest of the livestock with them??

    Thanks,

I think it depends on the cuke - some are more lethal than others. I know the more brightly colored ones can be bad. I'm going to run it by Dr. Shimek to make sure.

One bad thing about tigers is that they rearrange the sandbed. Mine pile the sand up in places where I can't get to it.

I had 2 tiger tail cukes. Now I only have one. When the one died I never found it and never saw a spike in my water parameters. They are very good at keeping the substate all stirred up. When I had a cyano outbreak I picked mine up and laid him right in the middle on the cyano. In a few hours it ate it all! I would recomend them.

    Thumbs up

tiger tails are excellent for keeping the sand stirred and white.they dont nuke youre tank when they die and only eat whatever is coating the sand,be it bacteria,or algea or both.the leave the fauna alone.i highly reccomend them, ive had two for over a year in my old tank ,and ill be adding another to my new setup .
