Maybe if I make it to the tropicorium this weekend I can take some pice there so all of you can get an idea of how large it really is.

So I couldn't wait.

Woke the fish up for a minute for this. The frogspawn is retracted because it was night before I turned the lights on to take this quick pic.

Tell us more about your sump. Who's making it? Any pics or descriptions? I'm trying to work up a sump + refugium for my 120-gal right now and it's driving me nuts because of space restrictions in the stand. That and the fact that I have this really huge AM-3000 for a return pump!

Thanks for posting the tank pics. Post some more!

The internal dimensions of the stand are L-47.75 W-22 H-20. I had a LFS order me a sump that is 30-22-15. With two 1 inch bulk heads for the pump and one as a spare just in case. I have a euro reef skimmer that must go in there abd the rest of the space available I will use for a macrobed/refugium. I just got a myreef reactor the CR-4 compact becuase it is dual stage and only 15 inches tall. This way I have enough head room in the stand to service the tank.

This is a 65 aga reef ready. We use a deep sand bed (southdown from ambulldog615, he is another local reefer.) 75# live rock, it was fully cured when placed in this tank. My wife and I got the pompanai and vanatua from aquatic technology in ohio. She and drove down in september with some coolers and hand picked it. Have some from HArbour aquatics ( picked it up on the way home from wisconsin) and the rest is from the tropicorium. The sump is a Leng ecosystem, no skimmer has ever been used. The lights are hamilton retofit 2-250 watt 10k MH and 2-55watt pc actinics. all german bulbs. Use a mag 9.5 R/T space restrictions. It is in line not submerged. A red sea wave master pro and 3 maxi-jet 600. I add reef builder daily and reef calcium. I also drip kalk at night just to keep the alk from being used up. I may go to the trop. this weekend too.

Is your sump going to be acrylic or glass? I guess they're having it made locally, right? (P.S. -- Looks like we posted at the same time. Is your new sump from EcoSystems?) How many baffles did you specify and how much flow are you trying to run through it?

So it looks like you will use part of the sump for your refugium... I don't know if I can do that because of my high flow rates. I think I will need a separate refugium. My stand's interior dimensions are about the same as yours except that I have 31"H. Are you also squeezing the CO2 tank inside the stand? I haven't purchased the calcium reactor yet so I have flexibility there... just figured I wouldn't have room for one. I'm not familiar with Myreef's reactors... can they go inside the sump?

I talked to Jeff at LifeReef about building a sump/refugium but he's backed up 5 months right now and he didn't seem too thrilled about dealing with 1.5" plumbing. He thinks my pump is overkill. I may have to have a sump made by one of the LFS down here.

Good luck with your setup.

It is a glass sump, with 3 baffles, the skimmer will be right after the intake and then the refugium chamber, and finally the out flow. I am going to fill up the In?out chambers with bioball just like a leng. The return is a mag 1800. Have 4 rio 1200's and a wavemaster pro for flow. Also the skimmer is a euroreef. The ca reactor and bottle will fit too, just wont have any room left in there is all. I have a dual PFO ballast for 2-400w 65k Iwasaki, alos have a 175 watt 10k in the middle of the canopy, and 2-55 watt pc. I'm doing this so that I can very the intensity of the light with a combination of the mh at different times in the photoperiod. The ca reactor is external and that is why I choose the model I did, really more so because of the height.
