christmas present with questions...

Greetings to you all. My wife surprised the heck out of me 2 days before Christmas. She must have gotten tired of me complaining I cannot add any more creatures to my 220 reef. A 125 gallon tank showed up at our door at 9:00 pm.

I have been in this hobby a long time, however, I have never run a tank without a sump. I am leaning towards using a hang on skimmer and running a tank the natural way with deep sand bed and live rock.

My question, any of you successful without a sump on a larger aquarium and what skimmer have you been successful with? Any of you use algae scrubbers?

Appreciate the replies, Merry Christmas

I agree with JWT! A woman who encourages reefing? Don't tell me she's good looking too.

Just call me lucky. Not only did I receive a very cool SURPRISE, she is a knockout.... red hair, blue eyes, and beautiful... Call me the exception to the rule.

I am looking at protein skimmers only on this tank and ordering live rock from jeffs exotic pets. He has this vanisia rock I plan to order very soon and cure in a tank before its use.

I plan to go for it with this natural berlin method, I plan to go slow and I will let you know how it goes.

God Bless those red headed women....
