who had success w/ carpet an. and fish?

has anyone succesfuly kept carpet anemones and fish in a tank that is smaller than 100 gallon? I would love to add the anemone to my main tank to add bright coloration but I'm afraid that it will eat the fish. I just want to see how many people have kept them succesfuly w/ fish because I've seen pictures of tanks that has carpet in the main tank.

I have a 60 gallon with a haddoni carpet that I have had for just about 3 years. The carpet has eaten about 200 bucks worth of fish over the years but hasnt touched one in over a year and a half.

In the 1st year I had it, it ate a purple tang, a few lyretail anthias a spotted hawkfish...among a few other fish.

They are quite beautiful though and if you want fish, I would suggest staying away from perching or swimbladderless fish...ie...a hawk or a blenny etc....

You must have Intense lighting for them. Mine thrived under an HQI pendant and now has 440 watts of vho on my 60. I feed mine prime reef and whatever else the tank inhabitants get but the maroon clown that I have had the 3 years as well feeds the anemone quite well. Its a rarity that I have to do manual feedings.

what size tank?

Those fish shouldnt be an issue for an anemone....I would just make sure you have enough room for the particular tang and foxface ya want.

u mean the smaller the tank size is, higher the possibility of the anemone attacking the fish?

the tank size is 180

no..not exactly. I wanted you to make sure you wanted a foxface and a tang in a small tank. You asked for people keeping carpets in smaller tanks....I was merely making a suggestion...I didnt know you had a 180.

Obviously though, the smaller the tank, the more likely a fish is to run into the anemone and become food

Good luck and hope my info helped some

PS. If you have the cash, the Blue Carpets are absolutely stunning. They fetch a pretty penny but definately worth it if you get the right specimin and have the right tank.

What kind of lighting do you have?
