Angry Antibiotics for Eye Infection

Did not know where to post this, so I thought I'll try it here.

My Maroon female (5 inches) has a really bad eye infection. I started with Melafix, but that had no affect.

I took her out of the reef tank (it wasn't very easy) and started to treat her with Penicillin from Aquatronics. Did the whole 6 day treatment. It did not help. She is getting worse.

Now, I am trying Paragon from Aquatronics that contains Nitrofuracyn.

Is this going to help. What can I do?

Does anyone have the phone number to Aquatronics so I can call them. I asked everywhere here and no one has it or won't give it to me.

Is there a better medication? How about Biospheres AntiBacteria?

Many Thanks ahead of time,

I am assuming your fish has a cloudy eye? When my flame angel developed this all I did was stick to a high protein diet and it cleared up in about a month. FWIW.

Hi:
Do you mean cloudy eyes or popeye?
If its cloudy eyes then SW maracyin2 or furan2 (nitrofurazan) are good choices.
If it popeye, then we need more details.
Is this fish in a quarentine tank?

It is not Pooeye. It is cloudy and bloody. The other eye is getting infected. I am going to use Paragon that contains Nitrofurozone. Do you think that it will help.

She's in a hospital tank.

I have treated eye infections many times. the bloodyness you describe is hemmoraging and it is critical that you do not net your fish, whatever you do. treat with both a neomycin and a kanamycin based product (aquatronics and seachem i trust) to target both internal and external infection as long as you have to (2-3 wks probably). extended treatments of other meds may permanently impair certain organs.
