Hermit Crabs and Snails - Carriers?

Does anyone know if Hermit crabs and/or snails cab be carriers ot parasites (ie Ich or Velvet)?

I want to add some to my tank, but I am not sure if should quarantine them first. I had some bad experience and I guess I am extra carefull now.

Both Cryptocaryon irritans and Amyloodinium require fish as hosts, so you don't have to worry about either of those coming in on snails or hermits.

P.S. -- I don't know what the possibility might be of viable cysts of something like C. irritans being attached to the shells and coming in as hitchhikers, just as they might on live rock or live sand.
