Brittle stars are nocturnal, when the lights go out that's the time that they will roam 'round the tank to scavenge for food. Feeding 'em is pretty fun too, I just put a small pc of food near its arm and the little star will grasp the food.

What do you feed your brittle star? Shrimp?

I feed my brittlestars frozen silversides, I put it close to them and they come out and grab them out of my hands.

I tried a raw piece of shrimp, mine came out from under the live rock and wrapped itself around it. Then she took it back under the rocks. Must have been very hungry. I will make sure I feed her often.

Do I need to direct feed my black brittle star? If so, how would I do that? When I feed my fish, he waves his arms around from under his rock, but NEVER comes out. Dr. Ron told me that a well-fed brittle star is pretty benign. How do I know if he's well-fed if I never see him eat?

If he's not dead, he's well fed! ;0-)
