Switched from 4 55 watt PC's to 2 250watt MH 6500K and 3 95 watt URI VHO's.
Custom hood with 2 4 inch fans blowing in, and 1 4 inch fan blowing out. Temp stays at 82. In the summer I will need to add an additional clip on fan.

Just wondering... How your were sps's doing under the pc's anyway?Im are running 315 VHO on a 72 and have had no luck with sps's at all.
No matter where I placed them.

BOOMER SOONER!!!!
Looking good Brian....how about a picture with just the MH's
I actually had really good success with SPS under the PC's but they were always no more than 8-10 inches from the light. Some species I have had for at least 6 months with only PC's. Keep it high on the light and in strong flow.
I'll work on that picture for you Mark.
One question for you. How high above the waterline are you metal halide bulbs? I'm getting some next week and I noticed my PC's are only 6" above the waterline. Is that enough?
The bottom of the halide bulbs are approx 6 inches from the acrylic and the water line is usually 1 inch below that. I have 3 4 inch fans blowing in the canopy. Without them I think the acrylic would get pretty hot.
