Question for those Cal Reactor owners
I notice I have to adjust my water flow in my reactor often. I will get it to just a fast trickle and a week later the flow is just a drop a second or just dead stopped. I have mine attached to my skimmer pump with a t-connector, the pump is quite large and the flow never slows down. I was scared hooking it up to a powerhead since they get stopped up and caked with calcium so much. From the t-connecter I have a 3/8 valve to slow the flow down then to the final valve for a finer adjustment. I am just wondering if this is normal or should I just set it once. I also noticed a fine powder building up in the bottom of both reactor chambers, is that normal operation ? The reactor has been so nice to have and no complaints so far, just still learning how to adjust it. The reactor is a My Reef Creations dual chamber and the pump is a Gen-X

Well as far as adjusting a CR this is normal and can take weeks to finally tweak it perfectly. As far as the water flow to stop flowing from the effelant this I dont believe is not normal. I had the same problem with my Coralhound dual stage reactor. What I did was cleaned the line from the feed pump to the reactor and this worked for me. As far as the white powder on the bottom of the reactor this I cant answer because im not familiar with your reactor and how it's designed or what substrate you are using in the reactor chanbers. I use ARM and never had it break down like that.

If the ph of the efffluent is below 6.6 I beleive the arogonite materials begin to loose there integrity and turn to a mud. I read that somewhere, I remember it was with the instructions for my reactor. I have a CR4 reactor from my reef (the short/fat reactor) call andy or email him. He will answer questions for you.

I would try a MJ 1200 powerhead. I have been feeding my Geo reactor for 8-9 months with one and it hasn't even been removed from the sump let alone cleaned.....

Because my effluant line is close to my light source I tend to build up what could be considered algea, I have to adjust the drip rate often, but it gives me yet another excuse to check the tank/sump.refigium.

suposedly, the efflent CANNOT get below 6.5.
From my reading it is impossible for it to reach a lower Ph. When the Co2 is released, the Ph rises but can never go below 6.5 in the effluent.
