Question Do you have sump/refugium pics?

I have decided to use a 90gal tank to make my sump/refugium. Does anyone have pictures or suggestions I can use to make this?

I still have one question though. How can you get away with having a sump/refugium in the same tank that has a very high turn over rate? Refugiums require a low turn over, right???

    BigLar,

You reduce the flow through the refugium in a combined system by placing 2 drain lines in it. One line goes in the first partition, one line goes in a partition after the refuge but prior to the bubble-removing baffles. If you have 2 overflows in the display, this is easily accomplished. If only one, then you should split this and make the separation. In theory, you just reduced the flow through the refuge by half. Obviously the flow through each line will be slightly different.

    BigLar,

My web site has pictures and CAD drawings of my refugium/sump.

One thing to remember, a high GPH flow rate does not necessarily mean a strong current.

My refugium has about 1000 gph running through it but the current is rather mild because of the large area that the water is flowing through.

    Regards,

    Scott

Perfect! The same thing can be done if the two are combined into one box.
