Post Reef Safe Fish

I have a 90 reef with a Sailfin and Purple Tang, Pink and Blue Spot Watchman Goby, Coral Beauty, and a Cleaner. I'm getting rid of the Sailfin because it's too big for the tank and maybe the Purple because it's aggressive. I'm thinking of getting a school of chromis. I need suggestions on what other fish and how many I should get. I don't want anything that will eat fauna off of the LR and LS or anything that will be as aggressive as my tangs. I also want alot of color and motion. I appreciate all suggestions!

Naser, would the flamehawk eat my shrimp or bother my coral beauty?

Make sure the cleaner shrimp is in the tank first and established. Adding a creaner shrimp after a flame hawk is in there could be more of a problem.

Chromis are good, but if you like color then consider some types of Anthias.....I was in the very same situation as you when I had my 90 gal tank. Here are a few types of anthias you might wanna consider

Dispar anthias

Bicolor anthias

Hutchi anthias

Just bear in mind that anthias like to eat 2-3 times a day!

The book called MARINE FISHES by Scott W. Michael is an excellent softcover and affordable book with about 500 species and photos. It also gives a reef compatibility summary for each.

Kb,
Any one of the many cirrhilabrus wrasses are quite suitable for the reef aquarium. My favorite is the jordani (flame wrasse) perhaps the hardiest of all within this family, extremely colorful, and they have never bothered anything in my systems. Yes the wrasses are a bit more expensive then the chromis, hehe but, with a few of the wrasses in this family in your system will bring about the effect I think you are looking for. Also, the wrasses are not nearly as dependent upon constant feedings as is the case with the anthias. All is IMHO, hope this helps.

Duncan.

Duncan, do you think my Purple Tang will be aggressive towards the Fairy Wrasse(s)?

How long has the Tang been established. The answer either way is most likely yes though..

When I added my Scott Fairie Wrasses to my tank, I move my Purple tang to Q-tank for a week. When I moved him back, there were a couple of short scuffles, but they worked it out.

My Purple Tang has been in for about 6 months. I guess I will try to section off part of the tank?

There have been lots of wrasses suggested, but let me put in a word for clan halichoeres . I have a "radiant" wrasse (H. iridis ) that I enjoy. Maroon body with yellow/orange head, very active and lots of personality. Doesn't seem to pick on anybody ('least not when I'm watching).
