my electric bill this month was $440

christmas lights included
but still, it jumped a hundred bucks this month, and since the new 120 was started this month,i guess the majority was probly due to that........all the more reason why i need to break down my fowlr and african cichlid tanks

thats only a savings of 50 watts. Not a big deal.

No real need to change for 50 watts..theres no cost savings in those types of bulbs.

You can figure it out for yourself: http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/tank_elec_calc.htm

You may have to adjust that figure of 12 cents per KWH since you are in southern California. Just look on your electric bill and see what your rate is.

90-110 a month. I got rid of my air conditioner, dishwasher, washer and dryer, fridge, lamps, and the TV, I couldn't afford to run them anymore.

Yikes! My wife would kick my a** (or at least go on an extended shopping spree) if the electric was $500. I don't know what the KWH is here but it must be alot cheaper. My bill was running $130 until the Oct. hike now it's $280. I have an all electric house 5bd 3 bath.
My equipment:

Dolphin 4500 1/2HP
Iwaki MD100RLT
Iwaki MD55RLT
3 - 400W MH
1 175 W MH
4 - 95W VHO's
2 - 165W VHO's
You guys with all those lights better sell me some frags to pay those big bills
Kevin

I thought I was doing bad with around 20-30/month, and that includes food and additives to run my tank. My total bill per month is "only" $105-112.

Atleast I now know I have a ways to go before the power company thinks I'm growing Marijuana in my basement. Thank you all for making me feel better.
